Arch Hellen Med, 42(3), May-June 2025, 415-421 SPECIAL ARTICLE National Crisis and Risk Management Mechanism, health operational plans and current trends in natural disaster response M. Taouktsis,1,4 I. Apostolakis,2,4 P. Sarafis3,4 |
Climate change is a perennial problem of all countries around the world with governments of all countries making continuous efforts to deal with its consequences. Aiming in more effectively dealing with its effects, the National Crisis Management and Risk Management Mechanism was established (Law 4662/2020), undertaking the responsibility of organization and coordination of all required actions and agencies to protect human life and ensure citizens health. This can be achieved by establishing General Emergency Response and Consequence Management Plans and operational plans which contain all the required actions and distribute roles to the competent agencies. In addition, new services point out the necessity for a more holistic response to natural disasters –beyond national level– taking advantage of technology and information that can now be gathered in new databases that are being created. Dealing with climate change and its effects concerns the planet as a whole and that is the only way to be dealt with.
