Arch Hellen Med, 24(2), March-April 2007, 150-154 REVIEW Retroperitoneal sarcomas: Diagnosis and management J.D. SPILIOTIS |
The evaluation and treatment of retroperitoneal sarcomas remains controversial. Surgical resection remains the gold standard for long-term survival. The planning of therapy in these patients remains multidisciplinary in both the standards and the clinical trial protocols. The most difficult problem in the management of these tumors continues to be local recurrence of the disease, with increased morbidity and decreased survival rates for the affected patients.
