OBJECTIVE The recording of the experiences of the recipients of health services from their visit to the primary health care structures of the Greek Region.
METHOD A cross-sectional survey was conducted using a questionnaire, from February to March 2024, in the public primary structures of the Regional Unit Prefecture of Northern Greece. A questionnaire comprising 46 questions was used, answered on a five-point Likert scale, covering demographic data and a questionnaire to assess the experience and satisfaction of the recipients of health services from Primary Health Care. The research sample consisted of 296/320 (response rate: 92.5%). The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), version 24.0 was used for statistical analysis.
RESULTS Regarding the recipients of primary healthcare (health) services, it was found that the individual dimensions and the overall evaluation of their experience were quite high. The dimension related to "continuity of care" had the highest rating, while the dimension with the lowest rating was "accessibility". At the same time, the overall evaluation of the experience was better in local health units than in health centers, while the greater frequency of visits to the structure and the higher income were related to an increased score for the overall evaluation of the experience.
CONCLUSIONS The evaluation of the experience of the visitors from the primary health care units can be characterized as very positive, as high satisfaction rates are noted in all the individual dimensions of the questionnaire but also overall, while the importance of local health units, as a key provider of the primary health care services, as well as the need to strengthen them.
